I spent 4 years working in Nottingham at inner city Primary Schools where I held roles of PSHE and Science coordinator. I had the privilege of teaching children from a number of different backgrounds, cultures and religions. Due to my interest and enjoyment of this diversity, I moved abroad in order to teach and learn from children from across the world.
I spent 8 years working at Nord Anglia International School, Pudong in Shanghai. During my time there, I taught across the three key stages and held various leadership roles helping to shape the way the curriculum is taught throughout the Primary School. These included PSHE, Science and Literacy coordinator. Alongside my primary teaching, I have also taught and developed the IB Psychology programme in the school, complemented by my MSc in Applied Psychology. This has been a wonderful opportunity for me; enabling me to develop and strengthen many transferable teaching skills and strategies.
I am excited to once again have the opportunity to focus solely on my primary school teaching. It is here that my true passion lies. The final year of primary is a crucial one for many reasons. It is my belief that developing children’s self-confidence and enabling them to reach their full potential is important. I am dedicated to employing a range of pedagogical strategies in order to excite and engage the learners in my classroom as well as embracing technology in order to provide a truly modern learning experience.. Nurturing students, raising the profile of high performance learning and embedding a safe environment is something that I feel passionately about. Within my lessons, I incorporate collaborative learning strategies as well as student led and independent work to enable students to have experience of multiple styles of teaching and learning.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years at NAS Dubai. NAS has given me the opportunity to teach children with inquiring minds in a rich and stimulating environment. The exciting curriculum in Year 6 provides challenging opportunities for all students and I have found that creating a rich learning environment helps to develop students’ skills and work towards achieving their maximum potential. I look forward to continuing this with my new students. This will be my 10th year teaching Year 6!
In my spare time I enjoy travelling and discovering new places. I have been fortunate enough to work and travel in numerous countries around the world. I enjoy living in Dubai, with my husband, young daughter and pet dog.
