Secondary Business & Economics

After completing my Business Degree in the UK, it took me another year of working in recruitment to realise my true vocation of teaching.

I completed my PGCE in Birmingham whilst running a restaurant franchise to fund it. My first teaching job in Birmingham was both challenging and satisfying and during a time of change in post 16 qualifications. I then worked for the OCR examination board to develop a suite of business related vocational qualifications before moving to Dubai in 2003.

To broaden my horizons and practice what I taught, I took a job in the exciting world of hospitality and was a Training and Quality Director for one of the best hotel chains here in Dubai for 6 years. I then took my wealth of experience back to the classroom and was Deputy Head of a sixth form before joining NAS Dubai.

I was part of the original team to open this amazing school and I am very happy to be spending time with students again and using the news and current events to bring the syllabus to life. Business and Economics is so relevant and exciting that all students should opt to study it, if only to gain some of the skills that will be relevant to all types of future employment.
