Secondary English

I was born and raised in a small city in West Yorkshire in the North of England. I have a BA (Honours) degree in English and History, which I attained from the University of Liverpool. I then went onto complete my PGCE in English at the University of Manchester.

I am currently in my seventh year of teaching. During my career I have worked for 4 years in Manchester and Bradford and 2 years in Dubai. In the UK I was a mentor for trainee teachers, where I supported them to become outstanding practitioners. I successfully implemented the World Scholar’s Cup, a highly academic student-led competition, which has grown in popularity with students each year. I have extensive experience with the UK KS3 National Curriculum, GCSE, IGCSE and A Levels. Teaching a range of abilities in my career has had a positive impact on student outcomes which has been demonstrated in their successful exam results.

For enjoyment and stimulation outside of the classroom, I enjoy running, playing netball, reading and travelling. I have travelled to many countries for personal and cultural awareness; some of the most recent countries I have visited include Japan, South Africa and Vietnam. I look forward to exploring more of what the world has to offer.
As an English teacher, I feel privileged to be in a position to enable my students to become confident and dynamic communicators. I aim to equip them with the skills that mean that they can approach future situations with confidence and allow them to explore, develop and express their imagination, opinions and understanding of the world. Through my teaching, I strive to imbue students with a passion for English and foster a love of learning.

I am looking forward to joining NAS Dubai in August and working in a school with an excellent reputation.
