In my subject I hold a BSc in Geology and Physical Geography from the University of Liverpool and studied an MSc in Catchment Dynamics & Management at Leeds University. After this I acquired a PGCE in Secondary Geography from Durham University.

My teaching career spans 13 years during which, I have gained experience as the Lead Teacher of Geography as well as becoming a Learning Coach. In addition to this, I have shared a number of learning strategies at conferences, where some have gained recognition to be included in books such as ‘100 Ideas for Secondary Teachers: Outstanding Lessons’.

I am very keen on the concept of connecting to 'The Global Classroom' to allow the students of NAS Dubai the opportunity to be exposed to the geography in our vastly contrasting world. Within the classroom I believe in rigour and the use of the growth mindset so students are constantly questioning and striving to better themselves. Along with the core basics of organisation, critique and redrafting, I guide students in the effective use of Project Based Learning to enhance their outcomes. These are my core pedagogy values to learning that I incorporate into the geography curriculum.

Outside of the classroom I am a 10km - half marathon - runner who utilises the vast number of running tracks Dubai has to offer. I am also part of a group of explorers called ‘The Geography Collective’ who have created a series of books titled ‘Mission Explore’ aimed at getting young people to explore the world around us in a variety of ways using all of their senses.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years at NAS Dubai, where we have built an excellent foundation to the Geography Department. We cannot wait to develop it further with new and fascinating partnerships. Watch this space!
