Rhys Evans

After attending Poole Grammar School in the south of England, I attended the University of Manchester where I completed a BA (Hons) in French. During this time, I spent an academic year abroad studying French literature, politics and language at The Sorbonne, University of Paris.  Following this, I completed a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages.

I have a breadth of teaching experience having taught French to Keystages 2, 3, 4 and 5 and German to Keystage 4.  I started my teaching career in Manchester before moving to London in 2013. Here, I took up the post of Deputy Head of Modern Foreign Languages and following this, Head of Modern Foreign Languages at a high-performing secondary school in West London. In 2015, I was awarded the position of Specialist Leader in Education through the National College of Teaching and Learning with a specific focus on Modern Foreign Languages and Assessment.

Most recently, as Director of Assessment on a Senior Leadership Team I have led whole school assessment. I have been responsible for pupil progress across the curriculum and throughout the school. This has involved internal and external assessments including CATS and GL progress testing.

My interest in languages comes from my love of travelling and experiencing new places and cultures. I have always been inspired by teaching languages which have huge purpose in the world around us; as a world citizen, I hope to inspire students in the NAS community.
