Ms. J. Lewsey

Jen Lewsey

Reception Class Teacher: C - Coral

Miss Lewsey has twelve years experience in education. Before qualifying as an Early Years practitioner, she taught as a qualified swimming and PE teacher. Upon gaining her BA (Hons) degree in Early Years teaching from Kingston University, she has since been a class teacher. She extended her knowledge and understanding of education by gaining Primary Qualifies Teacher Status through the Graduate Teacher Programme.

Miss Lewsey’s leadership experience includes being Art and Displays Coordinator at Danes Hill School, UK and being Head of Department for Nursery and K1 at the Children’s Garden Dubai, UAE. It was here that she developed a passion for positive education and after studying the Geelong Grammar approach became the Head of Positive Education for the school.

Miss Lewsey’s experience spans a variety of curriculums. However, she has always maintained a passion for learning through play and understands the importance of how play develops a child’s cognitive skills at the various developmental stages. Her aim is to create opportunities for child-led learning that allows for exploration and for the children to develop their confidence to become risk takers in a secure environment. Miss Lewsey also has a passion for setting up engaging learning environments and has often been commended for her creative displays and role-play corners that enhance the learning experience.

In her spare time, Miss Lewsey pursues many creative and active endeavours. Her artistic flair lends itself to baking novelty cakes, face painting and craft activities. She also thoroughly enjoys outdoor pursuits such as dragon boating, hiking and skiing. Miss Lewsey takes great enjoyment from traveling and learning from other cultures.
