    Ms. E. Parker

    Miss Parker qualified as a teacher in 2008 after completing a four year teacher training course with a specialism in English, awarded by the University of Cumbria. In her previous school, she led English and was appointed Assistant Head Teacher. Since joining Nord Anglia four years ago, she has been Head of Years 5 and 6, led English across the school and is currently Curriculum Development Leader for the Primary School. 

    Miss Parker wholeheartedly believes that when children are happy in their learning, they achieve great things. In her classroom, children are encouraged to take risks, to believe in themselves and to always try their very best. She provides engaging learning opportunities which challenge and promote enquiry. She believes that there is nothing better than hearing children sharing their ideas, questioning their own and others' opinions and listening to and learning from each other. She feels privileged to play a part in children’s development during their Primary School years.

    Miss parker has thoroughly enjoyed the last four years in Hong Kong and looks forward to many more opportunities to travel and to explore this wonderful city!

    Ms. S. Halmshaw

    After graduating from the University of Leicester with a BSc Hons in Psychology, Ms. Halmshaw worked as a teaching assistant in a secondary school. It was this experience that led her to embark on a career in teaching. After completing her PGCE, she worked for four years at an inner-city school in Bethnal Green, East London. This experience gave her the opportunity to teach many children from a range of diverse cultures and backgrounds. Ms. Halmshaw joined Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong in 2017 and became Head of Year 3 in 2018.

    Ms. Halmshaw believes that learning should be practical and engaging. She also believes that helping children to develop a growth mindset is key for them to become well rounded global citizens. She works hard to promote these values in her classroom.

    In her spare time, she enjoys eating out, cooking and going to the theatre to see plays and musicals.

    Mr. S. Calderwood

    Mr. Calderwood has been a NET (Native English Teacher) in Hong Kong for the past two years – working at an International Kindergarten for the first year and a local primary school for the second year.

    He graduated from Rhodes University, South Africa, with a Bachelor of Science Undergraduate Degree, as well as a Postgraduate Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Ichthyology. After which he completed his TEFL certificate and moved to Hong Kong to teach English.

    Ms. K. Curtis

    After graduating from the University of Manchester with a BA Hons in Politics and Modern History, Ms. Curtis worked as a learning support assistant in a primary school in West London. This experience inspired her to begin a career in teaching. After completing a PGCE at St Mary’s  University Twickenham, Ms. Curtis spent 3 years teaching at two different inner-city London Schools. This provided her with an opportunity to teach children from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures.

    Ms. Curtis believes that it is imperative that learning should be engaging and practical so that a love of learning is ignited in every pupil. She believes that it is important that positive values and an understanding of the wider world are discussed and developed in her classroom. This is so every individual is prepared for their future and ensures that they feel confident as global citizens in this ever-changing world.

    During Mis. Curtis’ time in Hong Kong she has enjoyed all the opportunities that living in the City has provided her with. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, dancing, eating out and going to the theatre.

    Mr. G. Loftman

    Mr Lofman has a First-Class Honors degree in Primary Education from Leeds Beckett University. His passion and love for teaching started in his teens when he began coaching a youth basketball team. Watching the children overcome their various obstacles and come together as team ignited a spark in Mr Loftman and led him to becoming a sports coach in an inner-city primary school. The transformative approaches that the teachers demonstrated excelled his passion and he soon became a higher-level teaching assistant and learning mentor helping children to achieve their maximum potential. Finally, when he knew he was ready he began his teacher training and has been working as a primary school teacher in inner city Leeds schools for the past two years.

    Mr Loftman specializes in fostering a supportive learning environment in which every child is valued and a strong community ethos steers them towards excellence. Setting and maintaining high expectations is at the foundation of his teaching pedagogy.

    Outside of school Mr Loftman enjoys keeping fit through early morning runs, playing pick-up basketball and training in Brazilian Jiu jitsu. He also loves to cook and is looking forward to the culinary treats and new recipes to be found in Hong Kong.
