    Head of Year 4 & 4C Class Teacher

    Mr. S. Challenor

    Mr. Challenor found his love of teaching through coaching rugby. Prior to teaching, he was a Special Constable with the Metropolitan Police. He started his teaching career as a  Teaching Assistant at an inner London state primary school. He then continued in the same school via the TeachFirst program where he was initially a classroom teacher before progressing to Head of Year 5. He also worked as the International Schools Coordinator, taking on the responsibility of nurturing a global outlook to learning and encouraging an understanding of tolerance, humility and respect throughout the school.

    He is entering hid fourth year teaching at Nord Anglia and is Head of Year 4 and has recently completed a Masters in Leadership from University College London.Mr Challenor promotes a values based classroom where character development is an integral part of a child's learning.

    Outside of the classroom, he is a rugby coach and enjoys taking part in all types of sports both playing and watching. He also enjoys eating out, exploirng new places and learning about the culture and history of different people.

    Mrs. H. Haines

    Mrs. Haines has taught in England for the past eight years, gaining experience across a range of year groups (most recently Year 6).  In 2008, Mrs Haines graduated from the University of Gloucester with a B.Ed (Hons) in Primary Education.

    Over the course of her career, Mrs. Haines has also been a phonics coordinator and curriculum leader, which involved introducing and embedding the new English curriculum for the foundation subjects and Science.

  • D. Barney

    4E Class Teacher

    Mr. D. Barney

    Mr Barney holds a first-class degree in Primary Education from the University of Plymouth and during his time there he developed a passion for teaching students from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. This was triggered first by setting up an EAL ECA at a local school for new refugee arrivals into the UK and later by volunteering at schools in the Czech Republic, Ghana and Morocco.

    Mr Barney taught across the Primary Curriculum in the UK for 3 years and worked part time as an Educational Consultant before moving to a Nord Anglia school in Hanoi where he taught for 4 years. During his time there, he became Head of Science and STEAM and spent a week at MIT as part of our Nord Anglia collaboration. Drawing from his experience there, Mr Barney loves to integrate project based learning approaches into his teaching.

    In his spare time Mr Barney persues an outdoors lifestyle and in his holidays he can often be found mountaineering and on motorbike tours in the Himalayas or exploring South East Asia.

    Mr. A. Mellows

    Mr. Mellows’ professional qualifications include a BA (Hons) degree in International Management from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, a BScM (Hons) in Management from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Montpellier and a PGCE in Primary Education from Durham University.

    He has taught in the UK and has previously spent 3 years teaching at Haileybury Almaty, Kazakhstan where he was the Junior School Mathematics Coordinator.  Andrew joined Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong from Dulwich College Suzhou where he was a Year 4 and 5 Class Tutor, as well as a specialist English and Mathematics teacher across the whole Junior School.

    Andrew enjoys leading a varied lifestyle and seizes every opportunity to try something new.  He is a keen sportsman and is particularly looking forward to the hiking opportunities in Hong Kong. Andrew thrives on immersing himself in new cultures and traditions and enjoys acquiring languages.  He is looking forward to the challenge of learning Cantonese.

    Ms. K. Hennessy

    Kate completed her Bachelor of Education in Limerick, Ireland.  After graduating she has spent 10 years teaching in Ireland, gaining experience across the school as a classroom teacher and three years as a learning support teacher.  She believes in creating a positive, respectful learning environment where children feel supported, encouraged to try new things and reach for their potential.

    For the past two years Kate has worked in a sister Nord Anglia school in Shanghai, where she enjoyed the challenge of International teaching and learning from her colleagues. She is excited to experience all teaching in Hong Kong will bring.

    Kate is an avid traveler and loves to experience new places and cultures. She is also a keen sportsperson. She loves to play rugby and football and is looking forward to exploring the different hiking trails around Hong Kong.
