Head of Year 4 & 4C Class Teacher
Mr. Challenor found his love of teaching through coaching rugby. Prior to teaching, he was a Special Constable with the Metropolitan Police. He started his teaching career as a Teaching Assistant at an inner London state primary school. He then continued in the same school via the TeachFirst program where he was initially a classroom teacher before progressing to Head of Year 5. He also worked as the International Schools Coordinator, taking on the responsibility of nurturing a global outlook to learning and encouraging an understanding of tolerance, humility and respect throughout the school.

4E Class Teacher
Mr Barney holds a first-class degree in Primary Education from the University of Plymouth and during his time there he developed a passion for teaching students from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. This was triggered first by setting up an EAL ECA at a local school for new refugee arrivals into the UK and later by volunteering at schools in the Czech Republic, Ghana and Morocco.

Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Mrs. Haines taught in England for eight years. She is an experienced Primary teacher who has gained experience across a range of year groups. In 2008, Mrs Haines graduated from the University of Gloucester with a B.Ed (Hons) in Primary Education. Over the course of her career, Mrs. Haines has also been a Phonics Co-ordinator and Curriculum Leader, which involved introducing and embedding the new English National Curriculum. Mrs Haines now leads English at NAIS, HK and has introduced many initiatives to improve literacy outcomes for our pupils.
4D Class Teacher
Kate completed her Bachelor of Education in Limerick, Ireland. After graduating she has spent 10 years teaching in Ireland, gaining experience across the school as a classroom teacher and three years as a learning support teacher. She believes in creating a positive, respectful learning environment where children feel supported, encouraged to try new things and reach for their potential.

Mr. Mellows’ professional qualifications include a BA (Hons) degree in International Management from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, a BScM (Hons) in Management from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Montpellier and a PGCE in Primary Education from Durham University.
