Miss Hetherington graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in English Language, before completing her PGCE at Northumbria University. She taught for 4 years in England before embarking on her international teaching journey, where she spent a further 4 years teaching within a British Independent school located in Valencia, Spain. She has held various teaching and learning responsibilities during the last 8 years which include: leading science, Modern Foreign Languages and Assessment for Learning, whilst also being appointed as a mentor to newly qualified teachers.
Within her classroom, Miss Hetherington tries her best to create an environment that promotes a love of learning. She believes that this can be achieved by allowing children creative freedom to explore their own interests, either working collaboratively with friends or independently. It is most important to Miss Hetherington that children enjoy their learning experience, have fun and are excited by the day-to-day opportunities presented to them in class. She believes that providing children with a happy, safe yet challenging learning environment within their primary years will facilitate a positive attitude towards learning that the children can build upon throughout the remainder of their school years and into their adult lives.
Having grown up in the Lake District in England, Miss Hetherington loves to explore new hiking trails and walks, especially those which have excellent views! In her spare time, she likes to attend Spanish classes whilst also socialising with friends, enjoying restaurants and relaxing at the beach.
