    Head of Additional Support Needs

    Ms. F. Ryder

    Having completed an Honours degree and a PGCE at De Montfort University in UK, Ms Ryder has successfully taught internationally (in Europe, Africa and Middle East) as well as the UK for nearly 25 years.

    She has led English and literacy programmes across primary and secondary schools worldwide, and thus developed her interest in Additional Support Needs. She has held several leadership roles including deputy head and SENCo (Special Education Needs Co-ordinater) in a variety of educational settings.

    Head of EAL

    Mrs. K. Silver

    Mrs Silver graduated from the University of Newcastle and East Anglia and has continued her studies focusing on teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL). She has taught in a number of different countries including the UK and Dubai and came to Hong Kong from New Zealand. She has taken on a number of coordinator responsibilities during her career and has been able to combine her studies and passion for language support into her role as Head of EAL.

    Ms. S. Carnett

    Miss Carnett holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Arizona. But, during her last semester of university, she discovered her love for teaching through working as a university teaching assistant. After her job as a university teaching assistant, Miss Carnett worked as a native English teacher at an international kindergarten in Hong Kong. While she was working at the kindergarten, she received her TEFL certification. She then entered Nord Anglia as a Teaching Assistant before moving up to her current position as an EAL teacher. Furthermore, Miss Carnett is in the process of completing her Masters in English for Academic Purposes at the Education University of Hong Kong.

    Mr. E. Chan

    Mr. Chan graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Teaching degree in primary education and completed his Master of Education from The University of Western Australia. He received his TESOL training from the Hong Kong Institute of Education and was an English Teacher in Hong Kong for over ten years before joining Nord Anglia in 2015.

    Mr. J. Mertz

    Mr. Mertz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Coaching from the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, England in 2009 and then began working as a multi-sports coach focusing on disability sport and additional support needs. After some time working in ecommerce, Mr. Mertz returned to a learning and development career, first as a Teaching and Learning Assistant at Nord Anglia, before moving into the EAL department in 2021.
