Mr. J. Borus

J. Borus

EAL Teacher

Mr. Borus holds a BA degree in Business Administration from Worcester State University in Massachusetts. He got his first teaching opportunity in Nanjing, China with METEN English. After visiting Hong Kong, Mr. Borus decided to move there and taught at Monkey Tree English. To further his teaching practice, he then went to Northern Ireland to complete his CELTA degree and began teaching students online. Once returning to Hong Kong, Mr. Borus worked for Tin Shui Wai Methodist College teaching secondary students. Lastly, he joined NAIS to experience teaching at an international school.

Mr. Borus does not see himself as a teacher, but more as a facilitator of skills and life. Students are not learning if they cannot connect what is in the class to the real world. That is why Mr. Borus enjoys bringing in current events, life lessons and various other aspects in order to give students a broader scope of what the world is like and where they fit in in the larger scheme of life.

Outside of school, Mr. Borus’s true passion lies in music. He has three guitar teachers, writes his own music and aspires to play live more often one day. Another passion of his is investing and trading different markets, such as cryptocurrency and commodities. Lastly, Mr. Borus is a die-hard FC Barcelona and Messi fan who rarely misses a match.
