Ms. S. Martin

Music Teacher

Ms. Martin holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in vocal performance with teaching qualifications in the United States. She has worked throughout Hong Kong as a music educator, teaching a range of year groups from early to middle years. Ms. Martin has also worked as a freelance teacher of drama, musical theater and English for various companies in Hong Kong.

As a classically trained vocalist, Ms. Martin spent a decade in New York and abroad performing opera, classical, folk, jazz and avant-garde 21st century music on stages including Carnegie Hall. Her passion for performing carries over into the classroom, where she believes it is the teacher’s job to instill in students an elevated sense of creativity and a love of the arts. When they gain the skills to create, perform and respond to music, they also gain a lifelong creative outlet. Students need a place to let their voice develop and be heard.

Ms. Martin lives in Sai Kung where she enjoys all the water sports with her two children, husband and dog. When she’s not on the water, you can find her playing her ukulele and writing songs for the classroom in her garden.
