Learning Continuity at ICS

Due to recent events, last week we unexpectedly found ourselves at home. However, we are staying on-track with the curriculum and couldn’t be prouder of the way our students are studying at home using our e-learning platforms.

What does e-learning look like at ICS?

Students and teachers are connecting virtually using many on line platforms. All our students follow a daily routine, just as though they were physically going to school. In the Primary School, teachers are using Seesaw, where they post videos, read stories and develop math skills through cooking. In Secondary School, teachers are connecting with the students via ManageBac, an IB learning platform used regularly at ICS. They are setting tasks and interacting with class groups using Kahoot, EdPuzzle and other digital experiences to keep everyone engaged.

During this unusual time, our students have shown that they are up to the challenge of learning and progressing at home – in all of their subjects!

After the first few days of our Learning Continuity Plans, Parents also shared their feedback with us:

The school response to this has been amazing. My children have been working on their regular day routine since 8:45. Teachers have prepared mini videos with instructions, audio files, scans and google forms, so that children work on each subject as if they were in school. Some teachers even required kids to write “I’m in class” on the message board to make sure they were there and working.
I am writing to say what a fantastic job the grade 6 teachers have done this week. My daughter has been enjoying the platform and feels well connected to her teachers. There have been engaging activities and teachers are quick to respond. We truly appreciate all of the efforts to maintain as much normalcy as possible.

Primary teachers have done an amazing work as well. They are all responding to kids work and their questions under the minute. I’m also impressed with how well organized and on top of things the teachers are. My kids have also been working all day and know exactly what they have to do. Great job!!

At first there was a sense of being overwhelmed as it was different than normal but this quickly evolved into a good routine. My 8th grader is also having google hangouts with friend during break and lunch times to keep up their routine of socializing during non-class time.
I just want to say a big thank you to the school - teachers all staff for pulling this together. My kids are happily working online and for such strange days as these - they are having fun learning and working things out with their classmates. Well done all!

I just wanted to let you know that early years and infants teachers are amazing. They’ve sent so many fun activities and good morning videos and videos of themselves singing or reading. It’s so kind and selfless. It is obvious how much they care . My girls are loving it. It definitely helps “normalize” an unprecedented situation 😍

We know these are challenging times for all of our students, parents and teachers and we thank you all for your continued support.
