What is the ICS Virtual School Experience like in Early Years?

Each day, our Early Years Teachers post engaging learning activities for Students on our online learning platform.

Learning activities include:

  • Unit of Inquiry
  • Maths
  • Phonics
  • Communication and Language/Literacy
  • Outdoor learning
  • Specialist lessons (Spanish, Music, Languages, PE) Infants also have Drama

Teachers upload videos to explain key concepts as well as fun extras, such as challenges and story time. After watching the videos, Students complete any relevant activities set by the Teacher. Once Students have completed the tasks, Teachers leave feedback in the form of notes, audio or video in order.

Teachers provide feedback to help Students progress during the home learning process. In addition, Student attendance is marked daily through a register.

What Parents have said about our Virtual School Experience:

The school response to this has been amazing. My children have been working on their regular day routine since 8:45. Teachers have prepared mini videos with instructions, audio files, scans and google forms, so that children work on each subject as if they were in school. Some teachers even required kids to write “I’m in class” on the message board to make sure they were there and working.
I am writing to say what a fantastic job the grade 6 teachers have done this week. My daughter has been enjoying the platform and feels well connected to her teachers. There have been engaging activities and teachers are quick to respond. We truly appreciate all of the efforts to maintain as much normalcy as possible.
Primary teachers have done an amazing work as well. They are all responding to kids work and their questions under the minute. I’m also impressed with how well organized and on top of things the teachers are. My kids have also been working all day and know exactly what they have to do. Great job!!
At first there was a sense of being overwhelmed as it was different than normal but this quickly evolved into a good routine. My 8th grader is also having google hangouts with friend during break and lunch times to keep up their routine of socializing during non-class time.
I just want to say a big thank you to the school - teachers all staff for pulling this together. My kids are happily working online and for such strange days as these - they are having fun learning and working things out with their classmates. Well done all!
I just wanted to let you know that early years and infants teachers are amazing. They’ve sent so many fun activities and good morning videos and videos of themselves singing or reading. It’s so kind and selfless. It is obvious how much they care. My girls are loving it. It definitely helps “normalize” an unprecedented situation 😍

You develop your organisation and time management skills. In my case, I have to keep a close eye on the time in order to know when my next live lesson has started as well as keep up to date with the topics covered during these lessons.
