Dear Parents,
Thank you for your understanding today with drop and pick up procedures on both campuses which will continue until further notice. We will continue to refine these over the next few days. For now, the school remains open for those families who wish to send their children to school and we will continue to provide a full programme of lessons during the day. The school has taken numerous safety precautions, including reducing the number of adults on the site, and for those parents that would like to send their children we feel that this may offer them a sense of normality.
However, we do recognise that some families will wish to keep their children at home and so, as of Wednesday 17th March, the Primary School will also provide online learning .
Whilst the school is still open the following procedure applies for online work:
-
You will receive an email from your child’s Head of Year before 8.30 am each day detailing the work set for the day and how it will be distributed. This will consist of:
-
English
-
Maths
-
MFL
-
EAL if applicable
-
A suggested timetable for your children to follow
Due to the age of the children in the Primary School, it isn’t practical to provide ‘live’ video learning at this stage and work sent home will be adapted so that it can be completed in the absence of a teacher. I am sure you will join me in thanking our teaching staff for spending the additional time to do this.
Work sent home if completed online will be marked by a teacher within 48 hours.
If the school closes the following procedure applies for online work:
-
You will get an email from me on the first day of school closure detailing the extensive home learning plans that staff have been working on which encompasses all subjects.
-
For the first two days there is an interim scheme of work which the school has prepared ready for the eventuality of a school closure.
-
Thereafter there will be a full programme of work encompassing all subjects with videoed lesson inputs, Google Classroom (Years 4-6) and Seesaw (Years 2-3) learning, online quizzes, splat packs, positive education, self-care guidance and more
-
You will receive an email from your child’s Head of Year before 8.30 am each day with a morning message from each teacher, detailing the work set for the day, any explanations and videos and how it will be distributed.
-
Parents will be contacted on a regular basis individually by their class teacher to check on how they are doing and work sent home online will be responded to by a teacher as quickly as possible but certainly within 48 hours
-
Parents will also get a weekly Bitesize update email from me showcasing what has been going on across the school as well as any whole school, MOE or MOH announcements
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions or concerns.
Best wishes to you and your families.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Simon Sharp
Head of Primary
