Ana is a true Third Culture Kid, whose parents are originally from Portugal, though she was born in Rhodesia and has lived around the world in many countries including Mozambique, South Africa, Macau, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. She obtained a degree in Psychology and qualified as a teacher in the United Kingdom with aspirations to teach internationally. As a Third Culture Kid, she thrives in international schools as she enjoys teaching children from across the globe and learning from their rich multi-cultural experiences.
Her passion for international education has also taken her travelling with her daughter across the world. Before joining NAISR, Ana worked at St. Julian's School and St. Dominic's International School in Portugal, Park School in Bournemouth, United Kingdom, The British School of Cordoba in Spain, and the International School of Brunei on Borneo island. In 2012, Ana began her leadership role at the International School of Brunei, while enjoying the warmth and rainforest adventures on Borneo island and Southeast Asia.
In 2015, she moved back to Europe to be closer to family and joined us at NAISR as the Grade 3 teacher and Student Council Leader, with a strong, passionate focus on student learning, autonomy and leadership. In 2016, Ana took on the role of Head of the IPC curriculum, overseeing the development, delivery and evaluation of our IPC curriculum. In 2017, Ana joined the Works Council and coaches basketball after school.
