Staff Profile: Alexandra Martinez

Alexandra Martinez

Assistant Head (Year 4-6)

For the last eleven years Alex has worked as both Year 3 and Year 4 teacher at King’s College Madrid.  For the past five years she has also been Lower Key stage 2 Coordinator.  Besides being a class teacher, she has also held other posts of responsibility, such as Humanities Coordinator and English Coordinator in Primary, Primary School Representative for Extra-Curricular Activities, and House Parent in the Boarding school.

Before this Alex completed her PGCE at London Metropolitan University and a BA in Linguistics at Lancaster University.

Alex is very interested in the development of the child as a whole, and she tries to ensure there are many additional activities and initiatives to keep the children and staff motivated, as well as maintaining high standards in the development of the curriculum.

Alex has always loved travelling, and has spent many summers exploring the world with her backpack.  Although she has never been to Shanghai, she has been to Asia a couple of times, and can’t wait to discover more of it!

Alex grew up in Madrid, with English and Argentinian parents.  She has spent eight years living, working and studying in England, and moved back to Spain eleven years ago.  Her husband is Spanish, and their three year old son, Luca, was born in Madrid.  Alex loves travelling and learning everything she can about new cultures; the history, art, language and especially the food!  She also enjoys skiing and is beginning to learn some Flamenco dancing!
