Primary School Class Parties
This week there will be class parties for all students to Year 6. A huge thank you in advance to our parents for donating time and festive food items for all the children to enjoy!
ECA Options for Term 2
ECA Options will be published to view this week, with sign ups starting on 4th January and ending on 11th January.
Two New Initiatives
We are about to launch two new initiatives for DCIS families:
- Mobile School App
We are very excited to announce we will soon have a DCIS mobile school app that will allow you to directly access from your mobile device (handphone, iPad, tablet) numerous informational services, from the lunch menus to ECAs, from contact numbers to social media. We expect this service to be available in January. Watch this space!
- DCIS International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Scholarship
DCIS is a candidate school* for the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and is pursuing authorisation as an IB World School. We are pleased to announce that we will be offering partial scholarships for qualified students for this prestigious and rewarding programme that provides excellent preparation for university education and employment. Definitely watch this space!
Christmas at DCIS
Thank you to the DCA and all the Class Representatives who helped with the DCA Christmas Fayre this weekend. It was a huge success due to everyone’s hard work and it was good to see a few school administrators and teachers get soaked. DCIS will close out the Christmas festivities with the Lower Primary Christmas performances which we are all looking forward to.
Lower Primary Christmas Performances (Nursery to Year 2)
Please note that there has been a slight calendar change to the Lower Primary Christmas Performances for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. They will have their own separate Christmas assemblies on:
Tuesday, 13th December, Cooper Hall
- 10.00am Nursery and Reception
- 11.00am Year 1 and Year 2
Wednesday, 14th December, Cooper Hall
- 10.00am Nursery and Reception
- 11.00am Year 1 and Year 2
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Lower Primary Christmas Performances. It should be a lovely celebration of the festive season.
A few notes on the day:
- Please try not to arrive too early as there are two shows taking place each day which will mean there are a lot of parents around the school.
- We ask that if you are driving that you park across the road at the Singapore Polytechnic or in the HDB lot.
- Please keep the aisles clear and refrain from standing at the back as we will be using these areas as a part of the show.
- There will be coffee on sale before and after the shows at the DCIS Cafe.
- There will be a strict no entry without your ticket policy on the day as for most of our shows we will be at full capacity. Please do remember to bring your ticket along.
- Finally, if you are bringing little ones, they need to be able to be quiet and entertained for the duration of the show. If your child does become upset please take them out of the hall immediately and then re-enter when they are quiet. This is to help our performers stay focused and not become distracted.
Many thanks for your help with the costumes. We are sure the children will look great!
Mrs K Gray
Year 1 Class Teacher
Deputy Head of Lower Primary
UK Passports: Are yours about to expire?
As the holiday season approaches, the Consular Section at the British High Commission in Singapore is undertaking an awareness campaign about British passport validity, with the aim of reducing the number of Emergency Travel Documents issued during the months of November, December and January. Remember: Most countries around Asia require six months’ validity on passports.
We kindly ask all parents and guardians to double check the expiry date on their passports to avoid any unpleasant surprises at the check-in counter.

*DCIS is a candidate school for the IB Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Dover Court International School believes is important for our students.
Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org.
