Dear DCIS Parents,

Many thanks to the parents who attended the Primary Parent Teacher conferences last week, we have received some very positive feedback from both parents and teachers. This week it is Secondary’s turn and we look forward to welcoming parents of students in Year 8 and above to Cooper Hall today and tomorrow.

I am very grateful to all of you who contributed to our Parent Satisfaction Survey. We had a response rate of 61%, which we were very pleased with. As promised I will spend Wednesday 20th March with the Primary school, wearing my bespoke Lower Primary uniform. I’m going to take the opportunity to start the day at one of our pick-up points so I can experience the school bus first hand. We will make a video diary of my day and share it with you.

It was amazing to see all the Year 6 children in school today dressed as historical characters for their IPC Entry Point. I spotted Julius Caesar, Frida Kahlo, Walt Disney and everyone in between. We will host our second Careers Fair tomorrow and I am grateful to the parents who are giving up time to speak to our Secondary students. Our Parent Workshop on Thursday will continue on the same topic, with University and Career Guidance for parents of our students in Years 10-13. We are very proud of our current Year 13 class who have had some very impressive university offers. We look forward to celebrating these at our first IB Graduation in May.

On Thursday we are hosting four world class triathletes who are in Singapore for the Super League Triathlon on Sentosa over the weekend. We have three teams of staff taking part in the corporate challenge and we also have families taking part in the fun run. A group of our students have also been selected to form a guard of honour for the race on Sunday.

Our Under 13 team heads to Phuket for the FOBISIA games on Wednesday. This is the second time we participate and we look forward to hearing about the team’s success when they compete against students from around the region.

I hope you have a great week.

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal

GC News: Global Challenge Update
This year, Global Campus Champions from Year 6 and Global Campus reps from our Secondary school are working together to achieve the UN Global Goal 4: Quality Education

As part of this challenge, the students have created a selection of English Language games which will be taken on the upcoming Year 6 Residential to Thailand.

Last week, the Global Campus student teams met to look at some of the best games. They have now been given the task to ensure that the resources used are sustainable and can be used by Thai students for years to come. We look forward to sharing the progress that the student make towards achieving this goal.
