DCIS UN Day: A Resounding Success! DCIS UN Day: A celebration of the diversity of our students and staff

UN Day is a special day in the DCIS calendar. It is a culmination of work from the children, teachers and parents that results in a spectacular showcase of learning and an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our students and staff.

This year our UN Day commenced with the Parade of Nations led by our Head Boy and Head Girl.  They were followed by our Primary students proudly waving their flags. Once all the students were on the field, Mr. Short gave a welcome address and the students gave a hearty rendition of our UN Day anthem 'The Power in Me'.

Students were then given the opportunity to visit the country tents and complete a quiz. This year we had 57 country tents presented by the Primary students and the 17 Global Goals presented by the Secondary students as well as a photo booth and charity water stand in aid of WaterAid.

Unfortunately, we had to cut the activity a little short this year due to the rain but this didn't dampen our spirits as it meant that the students had more time for their class picnics. This was a highlight for many students and when asked about his favourite part of the day a young student replied "The picnics. They made my body feel delicious!"

The Secondary students continued their day with a 'Community Lunch' in the canteen and some further interactive UN Day activities in the afternoon.

It is with great joy that we say that UN Day was a resounding success and we look forward to celebrating it again next year!
