We are delighted to share that two of Dover Court International School (DCIS) Year 12 students, Annika and Cooper, have been selected to compete in the Grand Final of the Articulation Prize Singapore 2026, to be held at the National Gallery Singapore. This continues last year’s success—when two DCIS students also reached the Grand Final—and reinforces our reputation for nurturing confident, articulate and thoughtful young people year after year.

The Articulation Prize is a national public speaking competition that invites students to explore and present on works of art. It is co-organised by the National Gallery Singapore and the Singapore Art Museum in partnership with the National Gallery, London. Participating students research their chosen artwork, craft a compelling narrative, and deliver a timed presentation to a panel of judges. The competition is well known for helping young people develop research skills, critical thinking and confidence in public speaking—skills we actively nurture at Dover Court.

Outstanding Performances at the Semi-Finals

At this year’s semi-finals, four DCIS students—Annika, Cooper, Dyuti, and Florence—showed remarkable composure and originality as they took the stage. Their presentations covered themes from identity and cultural expression to the influence of modern installation art. Each talk demonstrated not only academic rigour but also the personal curiosity and independent thinking we encourage in our learners.

Annika and Cooper were selected for the Grand Final after delivering compelling, well researched presentations that stood out for their clarity, insight, and authenticity.

Annika’s Journey: “Creatively freeing and confidence building”

Annika described her experience with the Articulation Prize as transformative:

“The Articulation Prize competition is one of the most creatively freeing experiences I have ever had the privilege of taking part in. Working on Third World Extra Virgin Dreams pushed me to think beyond conventional boundaries and taught me that taking risks can pay off.”

She also reflected on the personal growth the competition encouraged:

“Presenting in front of an audience is something I once found daunting, and Articulation helped me realise that I am capable of far more than I thought.”

Her journey embodies what we aim to provide through our education in Singapore: giving students the space and confidence to express their ideas with authenticity and courage.

Cooper’s Experience: Developing a New Passion for Public Speaking

Cooper highlighted how the competition broadened his skills:

“Articulation has been an exciting new avenue for my continued development as a learner. I’ve developed high levels of public speaking skills and discovered a new passion in it.”

He also emphasised the importance of support:

“Dover Court has been particularly helpful in encouraging me to follow this avenue—I don’t believe I would have been able to get this far without the encouragement and support.”

His experience demonstrates how opportunities like this strengthen communication skills, public speaking confidence, and self belief—key attributes we foster throughout our international school curriculum.

A Community That Supports Student Voice

At Dover Court, we believe in the power of the arts to develop empathy, global awareness, and academic depth. The success of our students at the Articulation Prize showcases:

  • The dedication of our teachers
  • The strength of our Secondary School
  • The supportive, inclusive culture that defines our school

Inspiring the Next Generation of Learners

As a leading international school in Singapore, we offer students world-class opportunities to build skills that matter—critical thinking, creativity and confidence. Competitions such as the Articulation Prize Singapore remind us of how transformative these authentic learning experiences can be.

We are incredibly proud of Annika and Cooper and look forward to cheering them on as they represent Dover Court at the Grand Final at the National Gallery Singapore.
