On Thursday, 14th November, our Year 9 and Year 10 Mandarin iGCSE students had the opportunity to explore the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall at Balestier Road, as part of their learning about Chinese language and culture.
The students learnt how Chinese immigrants in Singapore played an essential role in the 1911 Revolution, overthrowing the Qing dynasty and the birth of modern day China. As the original residence of Sun Yat Sen’s visits, the museum holds many original artifacts, historical documents and books, as well as some special exhibitions. The students were guided by the docents from the museum, who supported us in linking the exhibitions to our curriculum.
An interesting and very educational trip, enjoyed by all students.
