Gregory Bermont

Greg Bermont Dover Court International School Counsellor

School Counsellor

Greg earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, from the University of Minnesota in 1988.  He earned his Master of Education degree, earned with distinction, from DePaul University, in 2010.

Greg holds diplomas and is certified as a Professional Counselor and Psychotherapist, in Child and Adolescent Psychology, as an Animal-Assisted Therapist and in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).  He is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist and is working on his certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

As the School Counsellor, Greg confidentially works with the students, individually and in groups large and small, supporting them in their cognitive development and their social emotional and self-regulated learning.  Greg also is a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, helping families be the best they can be with regard to the student’s wellbeing.

Before joining the DCIS team, Greg had spent the previous six and a half years in private practice as therapist and education and mental health consultant to many international schools, companies such as Microsoft and Amazon, and many individuals and families, in Shenzhen, China.  He is also an associate member of the American Psychological Association (APA).

Greg’s passions are his family, cooking and eating, playing his guitar, travelling, motorcycles and especially helping students help themselves to try to be the best versions of themselves as possible.  His motto is, “It’s okay not to be okay. Just keep going.”
