Henry Zimarakis

Dover Court International School Singapore Henry Zimarakis

Secondary School Humanities Teacher, Form Tutor 12HZ, IB Core Coordinator

Henry Zimarakis received his BSc in International and European Studies from Panteion University in Athens, Greece. He then completed his Master’s Degree in History at the University of Bristol, before obtaining his Postgraduate Certificate in History Education at the Institute of Education, University College London.

Henry began his teaching career in Bristol before moving to London and then to Kuala Lumpur. During this period, he became the Head of History Department and Theory of Knowledge Coordinator, teaching the IGCSE curriculum and the IBDP.

Over the years he developed his passion for making history come alive for young people so they can understand that in a global society, which despite the lessons of the past, continues to be fragmented and polarised, the teachings of history are as relevant as ever.

Outside of school, Henry enjoys playing the bouzouki, a Greek folk instrument, and reading history books. Some might say he is obsessed with basketball, which he has proven in the past by coaching students and organising staff vs students games. In the summer he is usually found island-hopping around Greece.
