Laura is joining Dover Court after teaching at Jumeirah College, Dubai, for three years. Previous to that she taught at a boys’ grammar school in Kent, England. In addition to teaching mathematics, Laura was the Duke of Edinburgh Award Coordinator at Jumeirah College, managing 250 students and leading treks in the UAE and Nepal.
In lessons, Laura particularly enjoys linking abstract topics in mathematics to real-world applications and has routinely participated in a 'Teacher Lecture Series’ for Gifted and Talented students on her favourite area of mathematics: cryptography, ciphers and code-breaking. Laura strives to deliver a holistic approach to learning, aiming to develop students’ independence and problem-solving skills within lessons and ECAs.
Outside of school, Laura enjoys rowing, playing badminton and has recently taken up scuba diving. She enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures, especially after living in the Middle East, and aims to visit two new countries every year.
