Staff Profile: Catherine Brooks

Catherine Brooks

Computing and ICT Teacher

Catherine is a native of Ireland, who spent the majority of her formative years in Cape Town, South Africa. She graduated in 1991 with an Honours Degree from the University of Cape Town and worked for ten years in the IT field in South Africa.

Catherine and her family relocated to the UK in 2001, where she lived for seven years and gained her UK teaching qualifications. During her time in the UK, she held a number of key positions in school management for both academic and pastoral care, due to her counselling, mentoring, and coaching skills. She believes that an effective educator needs not just excellent subject knowledge, but the ability to excel as a facilitator, presenter, and listener. Catherine has also been involved in the development and implementation of a range of subjects and has a wealth of experience in delivering engaging ‘hands-on’ technical information in a structured learning environment. She is a conscientious, passionate, and enthusiastic educator, with excellent communication skills.

In 2008, the family once again relocated to Doha, Qatar, where she again held management positions in two leading schools, before moving into the field of adult education. Her multi-cultural education experience helped her to understand the specific learning environments in the region, and how to tailor delivery to the very special needs of the international market. Catherine is committed to providing top-quality education that engages and inspires students, and empowers them with the skills necessary to make a difference in their community. She is a keen cook and baker that enjoys travelling to new destinations and experiencing different cultures. She enjoys watching sport, particularly rugby and plays golf in her spare time.
