Ian Selman

Dover Court International School Singapore Ian Selman Year 3 teacher

Year 3 Class Teacher (3IS)

Ian graduated from the University of the West of England with a BA in Education Studies and
went on to complete a PGCE in Primary Teaching at the University of Greenwich with Masters
Credits.

Originally from Bristol in the UK, Ian’s first two years of teaching were spent in East London, and since then he has enjoyed teaching at an international school in Hong Kong. During his time in London and Hong Kong, Ian has taught Years 4 and 5, as well as being on both the Maths and Science teams. Keen to improve the home- school partnership he ran parent workshops to encourage participation and understanding of current teaching approaches.

Ian has a keen interest in tapping into his students’ interests and using this to drive learning using a child-centred approach. He likes to involve his students in world issues and sustainability as much as possible, empowering them to tackle these issues and contribute to the community and the world around them.

Out of school, Ian is a keen hiker having completed many hikes in Hong Kong and hiking in various places around Asia. Ian is also an avid traveller, spending time travelling the USA, Asia, Australia and Europe.
