Staff Profile: Jonathan Carswell

Jonathan Carswell

Year 3 Class Teacher (3JC)

Jonathan graduated from Northumbria University, Newcastle with a BA Honours Degree and went on to complete his PGCE in Primary Education at York St John University.

After graduating, Jonathan worked in an inner-city London school, where he helped to develop new schemes of work around the new National Curriculum. Additionally, Jonathan undertook the role of PE Coordinator, putting in place new assessment frameworks and schemes of work to improve children’s physical ability as well as leading extra-curricular activities to increase participation in physical activity.

Since starting teaching, Jonathan has always had the ambition to teach abroad and this led him to seek a new challenge, fulfilling this with Dover Court in Singapore. Underpinning this ambition, is a drive to continue developing and perfecting his practice. Looking to further his own knowledge of how children learn, Jonathan is looking to undertake a Masters in Education at some point in the future.

Outside of school, Jonathan enjoys playing a range of sports, including rugby and squash, as well as making the most of working in South East Asia by exploring Singapore and the neighbouring countries.
