Staff Profile: Simon O'Neill

Simon O'Neill

Year 6 Class Teacher (6SO)

Simon completed a BSc in geography at Newcastle University and an MA in cities, culture and social change at King’s College London.

Simon has gained experience across a wide range of primary school settings. Upon completion of a PGCE in primary education at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln, Simon taught for two years in an Ofsted-rated outstanding school in England.

Simon has been a teacher at Dover Court International School since August 2014. He initially joined Dover Court because he was impressed by its unique, inclusive philosophy and has enjoyed the opportunity to deliver lessons and experiences to a range of pupils of different ages and abilities.

Simon’s particular teaching interest is in Maths where he enjoys planning and delivering engaging lessons to motivate pupils in the subject, especially improving the children’s problem solving skills. As a part of the Maths planning team, he has provided opportunities to stretch and challenge pupils during lessons and ECAs. He has worked with colleagues across different year groups to build progression in Maths as children move through the school.

Outside of school, Simon enjoys keeping fit and has brought this passion into school through running ECAs to offer sporting opportunities for children and encouraging their health and fitness. Simon is also an avid traveler and Singapore is a perfect place to pursue his adventures from.
