This morning, a Year 4 student arrived at school off the bus and promptly said to me, “ I had a real fun day in school yesterday, Mr. Rowlands”. I replied by asking if she had done anything special yesterday and she responded by saying, ”No, it’s just that we always have fun in school”.In my experience, it has to be the top priority that children are happy in school and that it has to be a place where they want to come every single day. Year 3 could not leave school yesterday and were certainly happy about it as they had their sleepover. They all slept in Library and had great activities and delicious food. They were absolutely impeccable with their behaviour and had ‘Fun’. You would not expect to see our Y11 and Y13 students particularly happy at the moment as they are sitting their IGCSE and A Level examinations. But they still come to school with great big smiles on their faces. However, I have to admit they are even happier when the examination is over! This morning I watched F2I’s class assembly which was all about integrity through the theme of Pirates. Now pirates, in general, are not renowned for their integrity not even in the various ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies. However, F2I pirates were certainly showing integrity with the help of our superhero ‘Indiana Integrity’ and it was not only the students who were having fun but the staff and parents who were watching! Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that our Year 4 student was absolutely right, ‘BIS Hanoi is a fun school’!
I do hope that you have a fun and happy weekend!
