This week has seen the return of all of our Y4 and Y5 students from their residential trips to Long Hai and Hoi respectively. I have heard some great stories about the trips which were certainly enjoyed by everyone concerned with a great deal of learning that took place. More details about both of these trips can be found on pages 5, 6 and 7 of today’s newsletter. Also, welcome back to Jenny Han, Ly Hwang, Phan Ha Tran Luong and Dongwoo Kim who represented BIS superbly well in this years Fobisia Primary Maths Challenge. Although no trophies were brought home this time around, our team did us all proud with their perseverance and positive team spirit - well done!
As part of our continual commitment to the Health and Safety of our children, our termly fire evacuation took place on Tuesday. Assisted by our local fire department who arrived at school within 2 minutes of the fire bell sounding, the fire fighters practised their drill with hoses and fire engines. I am pleased to report that the practise went very well with all children and adults on site accounted for. For many of our younger children, this was no doubt the highlight of the week!
On Wednesday, our very own coffee shop - ‘The Terrace’ - opened its doors for the first time. Situated opposite the main football field with seating for 12 adults, I hope that this will give parents a space to talk and meet with the added bonus of some delicious refreshments. Please note that ‘The Terrace’ is designed for parents to purchase food and beverages. No children, without the supervision of their parents, are allowed to purchase items either before or after school time.
Thank you to the 40 parents that attended the Digital Citizenship Workshop on Wednesday morning. Led by Mr Adam Astley, our Learning Technologies Manager, the workshop had the aim of helping parents understand how we keep our children safe in an online environment whilst in school and also educating parents on how they can continue this at home. All details of the workshop can be found on the AP1 Parent Blog by clicking

Finally, please can all parents that come to school by car ensure that they do not double park along Nguyen Van Huong. For the safety of our community, I ask for your help in this matter by talking directly with your drivers. Your support is very much appreciated.
Have a great weekend!
