On the 18th and 19th of September, BIS HCMC will host the FOBISIA Student Leadership Conference.
57 students attending from 15 FOBISIA schools in South East Asia to discuss the theme of Ethical Leadership.
Leaders face ethical dilemmas every day. For example, a Head Student may face the dilemma between enforcing school regulations that are required to ensure a safe learning environment, and supporting the student body to whom these regulations may sometimes be unpopular. It is the decisions that we make as student leaders and the way that we implement them that determines our ability to lead ethically. Ethical leadership is about approaching these dilemmas with respect to moral beliefs and values as well as the dignity and rights of others.
Students will participate in several workshops by teachers and guests speakers. We are especially delighted to be inviting Clive Leach, a leadership and motivational coach, who has 30 years of experience facilitating positive growth in individuals from corporations and schools in the UK, Australia and South-East Asia. His workshops will help students learn how to become better ethical student leaders in their respective school communities.
Aims:
• For students and teachers to pool ideas about leadership
• To better our understanding of ethical leadership to implement in our respective schools
• For vital connections to be made between school student leadership teams
• To gain experience that can’t be attained within classroom walls
Our Head Students will also be hosts of the conference and introduce guest speakers, chair reflections after each activity and organise activities. It will be a vital opportunity for them to demonstrate their leadership skills and to share ideas about school student leadership with other school student leaders in a constructive setting.
