On Monday, all of the children in Year 5 came to school dressed as a person from their chosen civilisation from a period in history.
We participated in a parade through time, giving the children the opportunity to show off their costumes to parents and also place the different civilisations on a human timeline. For the remainder of the day all classrooms went back in time and became a different period in history.
The children all experienced different activities that gave them an insight in to life during that time. These included; cave art and the Stone Age, Roman gladiators, Incan Art, Aboriginal Art, Japanese Art and Egyptian writing. It was a great day and the children all learnt a little bit more about the past. We are now looking forward to starting our topic and investigating two civilisations, Maya and Benin, in more detail.
