We often say as college counsellors we have the best job in school. The best part of that job…welcoming students home!
Evan Planchon from the Class of 2015 came back to BIS on Thursday to share his experiences with our IB students about surviving the IB, what comes next and what BIS meant to him.
Evan was the first to admit he misses BIS and Vietnam but decided to really get involved at the European University Barcelona where he is enrolled in the Sports Management Bachelor programme. Evan is the Student Board Representative, plays for the university basketball team, is the university sports delegate and is the head student writer for the university blog.
Evan had some wonderful advice for our Year 13 students as they are about to start their final IB exams in May. He encouraged students to find that balance whilst maintaining a strong work ethic. But also encouraged them to look ahead at what comes next. “University life will be the best time of your lives. Jump out of your comfort zone, prioritise what is important to you and stay true to yourself”.
Evan’s delivery was passionate, sincere and above all ‘real’ for our IB students.
Believe in yourself

Be brave

Get out of your comfort zone
|
Stay true to yourself
|
Remember where you came from
|
Remember your values

We’re a big family that count on each other

As a BIS alumnus I’m here for you guys

His overall advice to the current students was inspiring and thoughtful – asking them “what do you want to be remembered for?”
We look forward to sharing more alumni stories with you as students come ‘home’ to visit!
