Dear Parents,
I would like to introduce the new members of our teaching team who your children will soon be getting to know. Find out more here.
Outstanding Achievements
Watching the Olympic Games has been one of the highlights of my summer. I find myself being interested in sports that for 4 years I have had no interest in whatsoever; trap shooting, synchronized diving, taekwondo to name a few. There have been so many outstanding contributions in Rio; Hoang Xuan Vinh in the 10m air pistol for Vietnam, Britain’s Laura Trott winning her 4th gold medal in the cycling (and becoming Britain’s most successful female Olympian), the USA’s Michael Phelps winning his 23rd gold medal in swimming and Simone Biles at 19 years taking home 5 golds in the gymnastics. Then, of course, there is Usain Bolt who achieved the triple-triple…3 gold medals in 3 Olympic games on the trot.
It is incredible to see the skill and power of these athletes who have worked so hard to become an Olympic gold medalist – the best in the world. As soon as they have won their event, the world’s media are there to capture their moment of glory and the individuals always thank their coaches, the teams that support them and refer to all those hours of unseen practice that have enabled them to realise their dreams.
Over the summer, we also heard about another set of outstanding results; the iGCSE and IB results for our school. Like the Olympians, our students achieve their success not because of what happened on the day of the exam, but because of all that went before. The teaching staff from F1 upwards have helped them develop the characteristics and skills to become outstanding learners. There have been a team of parents and family supporting them throughout their education and a team of support staff at school that ensure the learning continues uninterrupted. 16 years of enquiry, reflection and perseverance resulted in another cohort of BIS students heading off to the top universities around the world.

I am so looking forward to another outstanding year at the Tu Xuong Campus, and to seeing what our children will achieve this year.
