As teachers, we never stop learning and at BIS HCMC we are fortunate enough to be able to constantly learn new skills and develop professionally. Recently three BIS HCMC teachers - Mr Jon from TX, Ms Beth from APP and Mr Alexander from APS attended the FOBISIA Music Teachers’ Conference hosted by Harrow International School in Bangkok. This was far from being a relaxing holiday as the three days of the conference were packed with useful workshops, training sessions and a chance to discuss different ideas and teaching strategies with music teachers from across Asia.

There were many useful ideas that all the music teachers took away with them and are looking forward to using in the classroom. Particular highlights included percussion workshops with Andy Gleadhill (who worked with children at BIS last year), sessions on engaging students, mindfulness and music and there were even some drama and dance activities.

A special mention must go to Ms Beth who is now a member of the FOBISIA music executive committee who helps coordinate all of the musical events hosted by FOBISIA schools in Asia. Also thankyou to Mr Alexander who had previously served on the committee.

As music teachers we came away feeling inspired and refreshed, ready to try out new ideas and looking forward to the many musical events and concerts coming up this year.

Mr Jon, TX Music Leader
