APP Year 5 History Day

28 November 2017

On Monday, Year 5, dressed in a variety of costumes representing a multitude of different periods in time, participated in a day of history. The day began with a parade for parents to show off the fabulous costumes and to place the civilisations chronologically through time. The children then participated in a variety of activities.

These included: learning about the Stone Age and creating cave paintings, writing using hieroglyphics, learning about and acting out Shakespearean drama, finding out about Aboriginal dreamtime and creating art work and learning about the Japanese art of origami. The children all participated with great enthusiasm, had a lot of fun and the day was a great success. We are now ready to continue learning about the Mayan civilisation and its decline and the rise and fall of the Benin civilisation, through our IPC topic AD900.
