British International School HCMC are proud to announce that our four Year 9 students who entered into the International FOBISIA Design and Technology Online Competition were awarded second place!

A few weeks ago we introduced our finalists for the FOBISIA online Design and Technology competition after Year 9 students were asked to design and create a promotional gift for visitors to the school. After an intense internal competition, our four finalists went up against fellow FOBISIA students from other schools around Asia.

This particular online challenge is an opportunity for Secondary school students to understand how many different types of people visit the school and for what purpose, by designing and making a promotional gift for visitors of the school.

Our team of Year 9 students have worked extremely hard with the support from our dedicated Design and Technology staff members to create a product in just 6 weeks.

Design and Technology Teacher Mr Greg Roberts commented "These students communicated a clear structure and roles for their team while adapting an outstanding design strategy that allowed for small changes which had great impact on their final product."

The students’ dedication to this project proved fruitful, as this week they were awarded with second place overall.

Mr Jim Myers who was judging the competition commented on the entry, "BIS HCMC have researched target markets, modelled ideas, manufactured prototypes and the testing was clear to see as the results fed directly back into the design process. Overall, a confident and excellent presentation which clearly explains the many aspects of this project. I hope that you are all studying DT and will continue to do so...Design and Technology goes from strength to strength and it is important to embrace the talents and ideas of the young designers of OUR future."

Well done to Ben Gilmore, Gemma Handscombe, Sakura Kume and Cathy Jeong!
