Following on a little from last week when I acknowledged the success of  the U14 Basketball team, I am also pleased to celebrate the success of our Secondary Cross Country Runners in the SISAC Championships.

  • Under 14 Boys – THIRD
  • Under 14 Girls – CHAMPIONS
  • Under 19 Boys – CHAMPIONS
  • Under 19 Girls – CHAMPIONS

Overall BIS were Secondary Cross Country Champions a fantastic achievement.

There was also great sporting  success for some of our younger teams  with whom I met today.

  • U11 Football City Champions
  • U11 Football City Champions
  • Primary Cross Country

Our Primary Football teams had great results  in the recent SISAC Football competition with the following results:

SISAC U11 Football

  • Under 11 Boys ‘B’ Team, Pool B – CHAMPIONS
  • Under 11 Boys ‘A’ Team, Pool A - CHAMPIONS

Our young cross country students were equally outstanding at the city cross country championships achieving the following results:

SISAC Cross Country

  • Under 9 Girls – CHAMPIONS
  • Under 9 Boys – CHAMPIONS
  • Under 11 Girls – SECOND
  • Under 11 Boys – CHAMPIONS

As we can see, the above are wonderful outcomes for our Primary and Secondary students. Congratulations to each of them and to the teachers who helped and supported them to achieve such outstanding results.

As we all know, Music plays a vital part in the life of our school. Next Wednesday, we have the Secondary Winter Concert to look forward to which has a Beatles theme. The programme looks absolutely wonderful and is one of many exciting musical events taking place in the last four weeks of Term 1. The Beatles are one of my favourite bands of all time and it was really wonderful to attend the recent BIS  ‘Battle of Bands’ which was a stunning event with high quality music all the way through the evening. This week in my office, I met and congratulated the winning band, Mad Friday.  It was very enlightening to talk to the five young ladies who made up this talented group and to have the opportunity to offer my personal congratulations.

Mad Friday

Next Monday and Tuesday, we are holding two major events at the school. Monday will see our annual TEDx event, when we host a team of  great speakers made up of students, staff and guests. The final speaker at the TEDx event will be Lord David Puttnam who is also Guest of Honour at our second major event on Tuesday -  the official opening of the EY&IC. We are very pleased to welcome Lord Puttnam to BIS as Chairman of  Nord Anglia’s Education Advisory Board (EAB) and they will be meeting at the EY&IC after the official opening. During these two days, we are also pleased to welcome Andrew Fitzmaurice,  who is CEO of Nord Anglia, and Andy Puttock, the NAE Education Director. Both Andrew and Andy will speak at the TEDx event and attend the EY&IC opening ceremony as well as attend the EAB meeting.

As ever, very exciting and busy times at BIS HCMC, therefore, I would like to wish you a very relaxing weekend and, hopefully, see some of you at the Primary PTG  Family Evening on Saturday.
