What a week it’s been! To reflect on this week is to realise what a very special school we have.

Our calendar has been full of events that have brought our community together in a variety of different ways.

Last Saturday, the weather smiled down and we had a magnificent Family Fun Evening organised by our amazing PTG team.  My sincere thanks to Nandini, Nicky, Duyen and Nupur, the event committee who really did a fantastic job in organising the whole event.  Thanks to all the parent and teacher volunteers that came along on the evening to lend their support. It was a wonderful way for our school community to come together.

Following this on Monday was the amazing TEDx Talk at the Secondary Campus that I had the privilege of attending.  With speakers from the student, teacher and NAE community including Lord David Puttnam, we were treated to a variety of experiences throughout the evening.

Tuesday morning saw our PTG in action once more with a wonderful welcome to the campus for our teachers and teaching assistants in celebration of Teacher’s Day.  Nandini and Nicky once more alongside Kate and Grace looked after all of us and we truly appreciate all the lovely treats that we, the teaching staff, received throughout the day from you, the parents.

Also on Tuesday, it was with great pride that I listened to the students from our Junior Campus perform at the opening ceremony of the Early Years and Infant Campus. Alongside students from the Early Years campus and our Community Choir, they did our school proud. It was a momentous occasion and our congratulations go to all at the Early Years and Infant Campus in making this happen.

Thank you and congratulations to our PE department who have hosted Sports Days from Year 1 to Year 6 this week.  Despite the intense heat some minor adverse weather, our amazing athletes ran, jumped, stretched, reached and smiled their way to the finish lines. Well done to all the students for doing their very best. All should be extremely proud of their efforts and achievements.  Thank you also to all the parents that came to watch their children in action.

On Wednesday evening we went over the bridge once more to hear the phenomenal music from the Secondary Winter Concert. It was a spine tingling evening and showed us the reach that the Music department has at secondary and the future journey our primary students can take.  Our thanks and congratulations to all involved for such a magnificent evening.

Reminders...

School Identification Badges

With so much happening across the three campuses, we see an increase in parents and visitors on site and as such we need to be more vigilant about campus security both during the school day and at weekends.  We would like to remind all parents that school identification badges must be worn, even on the weekends when attending school activities.  If not, you will be asked for some form of identity and asked to wear a visitor’s badge.

If you are sending a nanny or driver, please ensure they have the school identity lanyard or some form of identity card. We thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students and school site safe and secure.

Managing our Traffic Together

Drivers Code of Conduct

For more information about how we can work together to improve traffic around our campuses, please access this post.

Stay Vigilant

As in all major cities petty crime does occur, as a reminder to all of us please always take care of your personal belongings, especially when walking across roads and along the pavements.

Safeguarding at school – it’s everyone’s responsibility

Photographs

It is every parent’s wish to capture memorable moments on camera of their child at school either performing in an assembly, on their birthday or simply playing with their friends on the playground before the start of the school day.  Any photos that are taken by parents on personal devices must be kept private.  They must not be shared publicly on social media or between non-family members such as, other parents in the school.  By following these guidelines, we ensure our BIS safeguarding policy is adhered to and that our children are kept safe.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Safeguarding 3

If, during your visit to school, you have any reason to be concerned about the safety of a young person, please contact the Designated Safeguarding Person.

Please note that CCTV cameras are in operation at all times across the campus.

Finally,

Our clubs head in to their final week next week with the finishing date being December 2nd for all clubs.  We are already finalising Term 2 and 3 clubs and the details will be shared with you in coming weeks.  Please ensure that all children are collected directly from school at 2.30pm from Monday December 3rd onwards.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Deirdre Grimshaw, Head Teacher
