33 BIS primary students from Years 3-6 participated in this challenging and exciting event.
There were 14 Primary schools altogether which meant there were over 300 people running for the U9 and U11 age groups. It was inspiring to see so many young children excited to run!
The run consisted of a 1km lap of the golf course, alongside the river, over a bridge, back along the other side, over a second bridge and back to the finish line.
Each school entered up to 8 runners per age and gender group. In each race, the placings for the 5 fastest runners for each school earned points. Schools had to have at least 5 runners finish in that age and gender group for points to be awarded. Points were awarded: 1st place = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points etc. The team with the lowest total score per race was awarded the trophy for that age and gender group.
As the Year 3s and Year 4s were the youngest students at this competition, they had to run around the course once which was still a very long way for their little legs to run – it was 1km!
The Year 5s and 6s had to run around the course twice which was 2km!
The stamina, strength and perseverance that these 33 student-athletes demonstrated was incredible. They should all be very proud of their achievements.
A special mention goes to those students that finished in the top 5 positions:
- 2nd place Sebastian, Year 6
- 2nd place Sabrina, Year 6
- 3rd place Soma, Year 6
- 5th place Hugo, Year 6
