Year 5 Geo Bee 2019

The Geo Bee which started a few years ago has now become a familiar event on the calendar for our Year 5 students creating an opportunity to explore basic geographical knowledge such as countries, maps, capital cities, flags and rivers.

  • Year 5 Geo Bee 2019 - 5
  • Year 5 Geo Bee 2019 - 4
  • Year 5 Geo Bee 2019 - 3
  • Year 5 Geo Bee 2019 - 2
  • Year 5 Geo Bee 2019 - 1

This year’s competition started in class a couple of weeks ago with ‘Round 1’. The best scores from this round then made it through to the semi-final. The best scores from that then made it to the final which we held on Monday 25th February.

The 7 finalists then battled it out. Each question was revealed, one at a time, and the contestants had to write their answer down on a whiteboard. They then revealed their answers: correct = stay in; incorrect = lose a ‘life’ (they each had one ‘life’) or they were out if they had no lives left. Great knowledge was on show and the final winner was Harry from 5S!

We hope that all children enjoyed the experience and can use their improved knowledge and understanding with our ‘Holiday Show’ International Primary Curriculum (IPC) topic, which has an emphasis on geography skills. The event also served as an opportunity to develop the children’s sense of being ‘Global Citizens’, one of our attributes from the school’s Aide Memoire. Well done to all.
