Community Tet Gift Box Collection 2020

A group of BIS students and staff, including our Principal Mr Anthony Rowlands, were honoured to be able to join our community partner, Thao Dien School for the Disabled, in their Tet celebrations on Friday 17th January 2020.

Tet Gift Box Delivery - Thao Dien Disabled School and BIS HCMC

The occasion was all the more significant in that BIS were there to present Tet Gift Boxes to the children of the school, which the BIS community have been preparing over the past two months. This moment represented the culmination of incredible effort by students from all three campuses who have not only donated funds for the gifts but spent time beautifully decorating, assembling and packing the boxes, as well as, writing touching notes and cards for each of the community children.

The BIS Tet Gift Box Campaign was launched towards the end of Term 1 with an ambitious goal of providing Tet gift boxes for each of the children from our community partners.  Some magnificent box decorations were produced over a few weeks during Vietnamese Culture lessons as well as lunch times with each one displaying the heartfelt sincerity of our community to bring a moment of Tet joy to a disadvantaged child.

The boxes were then assembled and filled by the students in a mammoth operation which took more than a week of meticulously folding the boxes and then filling each one with a cap, canvas bag, water bottle, notebook, pencil and a small carton of milk. The BIS students, both Primary and Secondary, engaged in this task with attitudes of true service and giving which are indicative of the caring community that the British International School Ho Chi Minh City really is.
