Year 5 EAL - Character Flaw Stories

This term in EAL, Year 5 have been learning about character flaw stories, focussing on R.J. Palacio’s brilliant book, ‘Wonder’.

  • Y5 EAL 1
  • Y5 EAL 2

We have improved our writing skills by learning a range of techniques – show not tell, expanded noun phrases, personification, and many more. To develop our characters further, we had fun using drama to act out how they would behave if they were trapped in an elevator. The students have persevered with past tenses, understanding the difference between simple and continuous, and mastering tricky irregular verbs. To finish the school year, we will be writing our own stories with fully developed characters, using all the techniques we have learned.
