Amongst the many successes, we are especially pleased that 1 in 3 British International School students achieved an incredible score of 40 or more, three times the global average and illustrates the dedication and commitment our students have toward their studies. The average point score for the class of 2020 is 36.9, which once again reflects the consistency in quality across all disciplines and is significantly above the world and regional averages. With student results across the IB Core hitting an almost BIS record best, the class of 2020 have demonstrated the breadth of critical thinking, research, and academic writing developed during their time at BIS HCMC in preparation for their undergraduate studies ahead.

A good education is of course about much more than results, but these moments of celebration are an important symbol of the shared endeavours of students, teachers and parents to our students’ educational journey. These truly impressive results are the culmination of not only the last two years of the IB Diploma Programme but rather mark an important milestone as our young people complete their school careers and take their first steps at the world’s best universities. This year, our students have responded to an unprecedented level of disruption. They have had to show even greater perseverance, adaptability and commitment to overcome obstacles, and have done so successfully with the support of parents, teachers, and each other. We know that our students will now go on to succeed in their current paths and look forward to hearing of their ongoing successes.
“Despite the challenges that this year has brought, the class of 2020 has shown the true BIS HCMC spirit in achieving an outstanding IB average score of 36.9. This is the second-best average score in BIS history and the perseverance demonstrated by our students in such uncertain times is so commendable. My sincere and very enthusiastic congratulations to each and every one of them. I would also like to pay tribute to our outstanding staff and supportive parents who have offered the students the quality guidance they needed to achieve such wonderful outcomes. These have been challenging and difficult times for everyone around the world but achievements such as these confirm the uniqueness and quality of the BIS HCMC community – a community that I am very proud to be a part of.” Anthony Rowlands, Principal
