Marvellous Musicians: There will always be music….

Our marvellous musicians have continued to display outstanding commitment, dedication, and passion throughout this academic year.

A Year Filled With Music

Our campuses have consistently been alive with music, from singing with gusto in weekly assemblies (whether online or in school) to rehearsing in ensembles.

We were very lucky to welcome some parents on-site to experience wonderful recitals featuring children from Year 2 through to Year 6. Our Christmas Concert was performed to children from Year 3-6 and streamed around the world for families to enjoy, and we finished this year with the wonderful FOBISIA Young Voices project.

We have valued every student’s musical journey from the first special notes sung in Fundinotots to our competent and accomplished performances of Year 6.

Coming Up

Now we are looking forward to the next academic year and the many exciting opportunities to come.

On our return to school, we will immediately prepare for the annual HCMC Young Musician of the Year Competition, which will be hosted by The ABC International School. This is a competitive event that many of our young musicians are very passionate about. We encourage our performers to start rehearsing now.

In Term 1 we will be introducing ‘open rehearsals’ on certain dates for our musical clubs. This will allow parents and carers to observe and share the learning experiences with our students as we work towards not only Winter Concerts in November, but also our Christmas Spectacular in December!

Our ‘Band and Orchestra’ programme will be further developed to include an Advanced Strings Ensemble, Wind Band, and Beginner Reeds Group, in addition to our already established ensembles. A ‘cross campus’ orchestra event is scheduled for October so that our Primary students will have an opportunity to work with our Secondary performers to further inspire and develop their skills and passion.

Tea Time Recitals are on the calendar throughout the year and will be open for performers of all levels from both campuses to share their talents with a small and supportive audience.

As a Music Department we would like to thank our whole community; parents and caregivers that support students with their instrumental lessons and practice, our Admin and Guard teams for everything they do to ensure the smooth running of all of the activities and events, our instrumental teachers, class teachers and TA’s and of course, our wonderful students. It’s everyone together that gives our school such amazing energy and we truly value how special this is.
