Rob Taylor

Assistant Head of Secondary; PE Teacher

Originally from the South of England, Rob Taylor earned his BA QTS, in Physical Education from the University of Southampton. He enjoys keeping fit and participating in sport, and in his younger days played semi pro soccer for Havant and Waterlooville FC, in the Conference league.

I enjoy keeping fit and participating in sport and one of my many passions was playing soccer, where I was fortunate to play semi pro for Havant and Waterlooville FC, in the Conference league. I also played American Football and Rugby in Portsmouth.

My first teaching job was in a high school in the Midlands in England, where I stayed for five years. Here, I ran two teams; boys varsity basketball and football both of whom become regional champions. I also continued my love of playing soccer as a striker for Uttoxeter Town.

I then moved back down South to progress my career by taking up a Head of Department position at a large secondary school. This was a great challenge and I have used the experience to improve and develop my teaching and leadership skills.

I met my wonderful wife whilst working in school and then we decided to move back to the Midlands where I took up another Head of Department position but this time in a middle school. It was here that I rebuilt an ailing department which helped the school to become renowned throughout the area and brought students in from outside areas to participate in our rigorous curriculum and extensive extra-curricular activities.

In 2010 my wife and I decided we needed another challenge and we were both fortunate to take up positions at BISW. After many years as Director of Sport I have now moved into a more senior role as Assistant Head of Upper Secondary where i hope I can have a positive impact on our students.

My wife and I love living near the nation’s capital and the life we can provide for our children here. My children are flourishing here at BISW and are fully appreciative of the diverse international cultures, curriculum and extra-curricular activities BISW can offer them.
