Ford Factory Visit ‘Technology in Action’ Year 10 D&T Students Visit Ford in Rayong. Last Thursday saw a group of Year 10 Design & Technology visit the Ford Assembly Plant in Rayong, specially hosted by New Model Programs Chief Engineer, Todd Barber.

As part of an ongoing commitment to showing students what careers are possible after school, pupils experienced a whole range of exciting technologies being applied to the manufacture and assembly of the modern motor vehicle.

The Assembly Line was the pinnacle of the tour, seeing all 7,000 parts/assemblies transported from all over the factory to efficiently combine to make a customer’s car, just in time and ready for a rigorous inspection to protect it on its domestic or international journey across Asia.

After lunch, Mr Barber kindly presented Mr Daly, Head of Design and Technology a Ford turbo charged engine. This will aid teaching and learning at Regents International School where students regularly use this type of technology to study materials and engineering processes related to this type of technology.

Mr. Daly, on behalf of the school, would like to thank Mr Barber, and his staff for taking the time from their busy schedules in providing such an informative trip.
