Poppy Mulford – Why I Am Riding Again
Poppy Mulford plans to ride 600km from Ayutthaya to Laos in her second temple 2 temple ride to support the deaf school - Sotpattana.
“There is more in you than you think” - Kurt Hahn
The reason why I am doing my second long distance ride for charity is because at Regents International School Pattaya we have been introduced to the Global Classroom and a challenge called Make It Right.
The group I am a part of decided that we would support the Sotpattana School for the Deaf because I had already supported them in my first Temple 2 Temple Challenge, where I raised 250,000 Baht – I am very proud of that achievement.
However, the Deaf School recently contacted us saying that they needed new computers, a printer and a server due to a short circuit in their transformer caused by a snake! Resources and finance are hard to come by for Sotpattana, so I am doing another long distance bike ride because the first one was so successful that I thought I should do it again – to help.
I know I will manage to complete this challenge because I have done it before and I love sport. This drive will help me a lot because I am used to training and then doing it - even if I haven’t trained for a massive time.
The reason I think my love for sport will help me is because I take part in so much that it is almost like routine now. At school, I take part in FOBISIA, swimming invitational competitions, basketball matches and football matches. I even get on my roller blades and wiggle board sometimes with my sisters and play basketball at home with them.
I feel confident that I CAN do this and that it is possible even though there is only one more week left until the Challenge begins. Being positive is the most important think.
If you want you can donate to this cause and help Satpattana Deaf School, it would mean a lot to me and a lot to the school. Find out how here, or email Nathaniel.Mulford@regents-pattaya.co.th
