It's been another busy week across the school with lots of discussion about all the extra-curricular activities that were on offer, as well as the wide range of sports opportunities for children to get involved in.
It was great to see so many children and older students attend the “Come and Try” activities last week. These certainly made both campuses feel very alive after school.
Ms Grace, our Head of Year 7, Science Teacher has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Indiana University and has completed her PGCE Secondary Science specialising in Biology from the University of Exeter.
Year 13 students came over from High School to take a look at the Primary School waterways. The purpose was to create their own projects based on the redevelopments that have taken place at the Primary site over the last year.
Ms Faye, our Head of Business and Enterprise, IBCP Coordinator and BTEC Quality Nominee, has been teaching at St Andrews since 2012 and graduated with Honours in Business Management from the University of Newcastle.
Our garden area at school was recently turned into an archaeology site for Year 3s hunting for dinosaur bones.
Mr Lewis, our new Economics teacher at the High School, completed his PGCEi at the University of Nottingham and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Economics from Nottingham Trent University. He brings several years of experience in teaching Business Studies and Economics.
Congratulations again to last year's Year 11 students on their IGCSE results, with the students’ Edexcel and AQA results being published on Thursday last week.
Ms Bonnie is our new Mathematics teacher at the High School. She holds a PGCE in Secondary Maths from the University of Exeter and a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Mathematics from King’s College London University.
Mr Harry, our new Year 6 teacher joined us this 2023/2024 academic year. He holds a First Class Honours degree from Manchester Metropolitan University and a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education with a minor in Children's Literature and Art. He has worked for one year in a British International School in Pattaya and has spent the last four years working at a British International School in Bangkok.
Ms Donna, our new Year 3 teacher joins us this 2023/2024 academic year. She has spent the past four years working in a British international school on the island of Phuket. During her time there, she had the privilege of teaching Year 2 and 3, as well as leading English across the whole school and working alongside SLT as a phase leader.
Today saw the FS1 students start to arrive and join the school. They were greeted by Ms Isla and her team and taken with their parents to the wonderful FS1 area where they played and got familiar with the surroundings.
Mr Sam, our new Year 1 teacher at the Primary School, holds an Upper Second-Class Honours (2:1) in (BEd) Primary Education and has been teaching early years for many years before joining our school.
Ms Jasmine, our new Drama teacher at the High School joins us this 2023/2024 academic year. She taught Drama and Dance at UNIS Hanoi in Vietnam for two years and Drama at the International School of Penang (Uplands) in Malaysia for four years. She holds a Master's Degree in International Performance Research from the University of Warwick, another Master's Degree in Theatre Studies from the University of Amsterdam, and PGCEi from the University of Nottingham.
Ms Lauren, our new Head of PE at the High School joins us this 2023/2024 academic year with experience in teaching in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Slovakia. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education in PE with Honors from Edinburgh University.
